“These are houses in Iran that were allegedly built 700 years ago.” Thanks to Fredzepp for pointing me at http://thefortuno.com/7-centuries-old-stone-houses-in-iran/ where these photo’s are shown too. The place is called Kandovan. Here is a link: http://www.anvari.org/cols/Kandovan.html

Information from http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=383549:
“Kandovan is an extraordinary village located on the steep mountain flank of Sabalan, northwest of Iran, 60 kilometers away from Tabriz. Kandovan village is well known for its exquisite rocky architecture which is made by volcanic activities. The inhabitants have managed to carve their houses out of the huge rocks; that is to carve kitchen, hall, and pen out of stone and to make windows for the rooms and later, to decorate them with colorful glasses. In one word, the village structure is incredibly beautiful. Kandovan is home to 670 people whose main occupations are agriculture and animal husbandry. It is believed that people who were fleeing from Mongol invaders first came to this village for refuge and then settled here for good. “
